Option A - Rural Business Energy Efficiency Interest Rate Buy-Down Program

This program facilitates the making of low-interest loans to farm or rural enterprises for the purchase of equipment or technology related to lowering business-related energy consumption. This program is an interest rate buy-down program yielding an effective rate of Prime Rate minus 3% (or better). A copy of a report provided by a third-party energy audit consultant is required.

Commercial Lender Participation: Required. (Lender facilitates the application process.)
Maximum Loan Amount: $50,000 (for MARBIDCO participation)
Maximum Lender Interest Rate: Prime plus 1%
MARBIDCO Interest Rate Buy-Down: 400 basis points

Option B - Rural Business Energy Efficiency Grant Program

This program facilitates the purchase of equipment or technology related to lowering business-related energy consumption. Farm or rural businesses may apply for a grant of up to 10% (not to exceed $5,000) of the cost of purchasing and installing equipment or technology related to lowering business-related energy consumption. A copy of a report provided by a qualified third-party energy consultant is required.

Maximum Grant Amount: 10% of cost, not to exceed $5,000.
Equipment Purchase: Proof of equipment or technology purchase required prior to disbursement of funds.
