MARBIDCO sponsors Arundel Grown - A Farm-To-Table Tasting

MARBIDCO sponsored the Arundel A Farm-To-Table Tasting on July 20th. It was presented by the Anne Arundel Economic Development Corporation and held at Great Frogs Winery in Annapolis and kicked off Maryland's Buy Local Week.

The annual statewide Buy Local Challenge (BLC) encourages all Marylanders to support their local farmers and pledge to enjoy at least one Maryland-grown product every day during Maryland Buy Local Week, July 22 through July 31, 2022.

The event had great attendance, food, and wine. Even Maryland's own Luke McFadden (TikTok #waterman more than a million followers) was there. MARBIDCO's sheep giveaways were grazing on all tables too!

The Buy Local website www.buylocalchallenge.com is the virtual hub for the BLC promotion and provides extensive online resources to help consumers find Maryland farm products of the land and the water during Buy Local Week and beyond including guides and directories to statewide farmers markets, CSA’s and farm stands. Plus find delicious farm-fresh recipes, a video cookery class series, and fun ‘Show off your Buy Local Shopping Spree’ photos and ‘Take the Pledge’ competitions to win prizes.

MARBIDCO participated in the DCA Booster BBBQ June 22

MARBIDCO sponsored the Delmarva Chicken Association BBQ Booster on June 22 at the Delaware State Fairgrounds in Harrington, DE, and met lots of farmers and families. We enjoyed a delicious chicken dinner and made lots of new friends!

Delmarva Chicken Association announced the recipients of its Outstanding Grower awards, honoring 12 farm families in Delmarva's chicken community with recognition as exemplary farmers raising broiler chickens. Each grower operates an independent, family-owned farm raising chickens under contract for one of Delmarva's five chicken companies. There are more than 1,360 such chicken growers on Delmarva, each one an important part of the $4.2 billion chicken community.

"To be a chicken grower in 2021 was to roll with the punches. In a climate roiled by COVID-19, avian influenza and the stirrings of inflation, chicken growers certainly dealt with adversity," said Holly Porter, DCA's executive director. "Growers came through for all the families, including mine, who depend on the chickens they raise. For this class of outstanding growers, earning recognition for their work in a year of challenge is a real feather in their caps. And when they share their everyday rewards and challenges with others, they help people who may never set foot on a farm understand how chickens are raised."
